It’s that time of the year when the UAE’s oldest and most popular domestic league takes centre stage again.

This year is no different as the Sharjah Cricket Council is all set to host the 43rd edition of the Bukhatir League at the historical Sharjah Cricket Stadium, which has entered Guinness Book of World records for hosting the highest number of one-day internationals.

The One Stop Tourism 43rd Bukhatir Premier League will consist of 16 teams contesting in the 50-over day and night tournament starting from Saturday,15th April to 24th May 2017.

The draws for the One Stop Tourism 43rd Bukhatir Premier League was held at an event at the Sharjah Stadium that saw many dignitaries from the cricketing fraternity in attendance. The event was live streamed and was well appreciated by the players and officials. The semi-finals and finals, to be played on May 21st, 22nd and 24th will be live streamed across the world on ‘Livescores.ae’.

A total of 31 games will be held including the quarterfinals, semis and the final.

The 16 teams will be divided into four groups with each team getting to play a minimum of three matches. The top two teams from each group qualify to the knockout stage. All matches will start at 5pm.

The Group A consists of One Stop Tourism, Sealine CC, Fly Emirates and ANIB XI On Top, Group B has Multiplex International, NMC, ECB Blues and Bukhatir XI. UBL, Sharjah Club, My Perfumes and G-Force Academy is in Group C while Group D contains Alubond Tigers, Weststar CC, Mir CC and Eastern Ltd.

UAE cricket patron Mr Abdulrahman Bukhatir’s sons Waleed Bukhatir and Khalaf Bukhatir attended the draw and press conference.

Waleed Bukhatir, Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Cricket Club while welcoming the participating teams and wishing them all the best, said: “First of all we would like to thank Mr Abdulrahman Bukhatir for the unrelenting support he has given in promoting cricket at the domestic level by providing the world class Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

“We are happy and excited for the tournament, which gives the players an opportunity to showcase their talent. We would want to thank all the sponsors for their overwhelming support,” he added.

The opening match is being played between ECB Blues and Bukhatir XI on 15th April.

The tournament carries a total prize money of AED 45,000. The winners will earn AED 25,000 while the runners-up will take home AED 15,000.
