A century and three half tons was the highlight of the match as UBL defeated ECB Blues by 191 runs through D/L method in a rain-interrupted game in the 9th Al Dhaid Gold Cup Tournament 2016/17. The tournament is organized by Sharjah Cricket Council.

Put in to bat first, UBL made a fantastic start as Amjad Ali and Syed Maqsood fired 90 runs for the opening wicket. Amjad Ali was at his best as he steadied his innings impressively to notch a fine century. His 108 came off 107 deliveries comprising of seven hits to the fence and four over it.

Syed Maqsood made a quick 38-ball 54 containing seven fours and three sixes.

Babar Hussain and Mohammad Boota carried on the good work with brilliant half centuries as UBL posted a massive 326 for three in 40 overs.

Hussain faced 60 balls to hit a fine 52 with the help of just two fours and a six, while Mohammad Boota remained unbeaten on 72 from just 25 balls. His fiery innings saw him smash seven sixes and four boundaries.

With a revised target of 297 in 35 overs, ECB Blues struggled from the start as the openers fell cheaply. Only Aryan Lakra managed 30 from 59 balls who showed some resistance before they could manage just 105 for five in 35 overs. Muhammad Shakir was the pick of the bowlers scalping three wickets.
