Bukhatir XI and UCT CC entered the final of the 26th Bukhatir League T20 Tournament 2016 at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village. The tournament is organized by Sharjah Cricket Council.

The final will be held on Friday, December 30, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium under lights.

In the semifinals, Bukhatir XI defeated Sharjah Academy by seven wickets while UCT CC thumped Sri Lanka CC by a massive 124 runs.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Sharjah Academy lost a wicket early but Ilyas Ahmed scored a 22-ball 18 and Thasin Rahman blasted 56 from 45 deliveries to put Sharjah Academy in control. A middle-order collapse suddenly put Sharjah Academy in the back seat before Noor U Din hit 12 to ensure the team reached a 117 for nine in 20 overs.

Justin James bowled a brilliant spell scalping four wickets in his three overs conceding only four overs.

Chasing a relatively easier target, Bukhatir XI had little problems as they got past the target losing only three wickets. Opener Khalid Shah (25, 13b, 3×4, 1×6) and Ajay Kumar (12, 10b, 2×4) provided a swift start before Rameez Abdul Kareem smashed four boundaries and a six to fire a 14-ball 30.

Waruna scored 22 not out from only 17 balls including two boundaries while Zanal hit an unbeaten 20 from 16 balls.

In the other match, three half centuries ensured UCT CC posted a massive 244 for three. Man of the match Jamil gave the start smashing a 45-ball 82 peppered with four boundaries and as many sixes. Saleem A Raheem fired 60 from only 36 balls containing six fours and two sixes while Ghulam Murtaza faced only 20 balls to fire an impressive 60 studded with five hits to the fence and six over it.

Chasing a big target, Sri Lanka CC lost wickets at regular intervals as they were shot out for 120 in 19.2 overs.

Saumya Jeewantha (26) and Sumith Kumara (17) were among the scorers. For the winners, Jamil Ajmal and Muhammad Althaf picked three wickets each.
