GM Cricket Academy put on a disciplined performance to secure a close 11-run victory over Singh Diesel in the Sharjah Summer Cup 2017 organized by Sharjah Cricket Club.
Asked to bat first, GM Cricket Academy made a rousing start with openers Asghar Khan and Qasim Mustafa sharing a brilliant 111 runs for the opening wicket in just over 10 overs.
Qasim Mustafa’s contribution was only 34 from 28 balls including three boundaries and a six while Asghar Khan fired a 40-ball 72 supported by four hits to the fence and six over it.
Junaid Kaka bowled a great over in which he claimed three wickets including that of Asghar Khan as GM Cricket Academy lost three wickets without a run being scored.
Saif Ur Rehman slamed five sixes during his 13-ball 38 while Muhammad Tanvir hit a 10-ball 19 containing a boundary and two sixes as GM Cricket Academy achieved 206 for nine in 20 overs.
Junaid Kaka added another to his tally to scalp four wickets while Waseem Bari claimed two.
Chasing a big target, Singh Diesel made a strong start as Naseeb Khan slammed a 48-ball 86 peppered with five boundaries and as many sixes. He shared a 59-run stand with his opening partner Burhan Azam (17, 19b, 1×4, 1×6) but with the required run rate still high the pressure was always there.
Junaid Ahmed and Adnan Khan scored an identical 27 while Zeshan Akmal smashed a quick 19 from only nine balls but their efforts could take Singh Diesel only till 195 for five in 20 overs.
