Justin James bowled a brilliant spell as Bukhatir XI eased past ECB Blues in a low scoring match at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the 9th Al Dhaid Gold Cup Tournament 2016/17. The tournament is organized by Sharjah Cricket Council.
James struck at crucial juncture to dent ECB Blues progress as he scalped five wickets in his 7.3 overs leaking only 10 runs that also included three maidens as Bukhatir XI registered a eight-wicket victory.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first turned into a nightmare decision for ECB Blues as they lost Ansh Tandon for a duck.
Fahad Nawaz (18, 17b, 1×4, 1×6) and Laxman Sreekumar (24, 24b, 4×4) slowly revived the innings adding 37 runs for the second wicket but once the partnership was broken, things started falling apart for ECB Blues.
Qais Farooq held one end firm with a 42-ball 27 supported by two boundaries and a six but Justin James simply ran through the middle and lower order as ECB Blues folded up for a meager 91 in 26.3 overs.
Chasing an easy target, Hafiz Kaleem looked to be in a real hurry to wrap things up as he toyed around ECB bowlers.
Kaleem just needed 20 balls to reach his half century then played another seven balls to remain unbeaten on 71. His innings was studded with seven sixes and six boundaries. Khalid Shah hit a 18-ball 16.
