A 12-ball half century from Saheb Malhotra was the special knock as Metal Plast outclassed Allied Shipping on day nine of the 29th Ramadan Rathath MF Cup 2017, organized by the Sharjah Cricket Club.
In the other match, NMC eased past Skybridge Freight Solutions by 52 runs.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Metal Plast made a fine start with opener Sameen Kandanarachi firing a 23-ball 36 supported by a boundary and three sixes. Dilhara Lokuheltige scored to a cautious 40 off 44 balls consisting of five boundaries to further boost Metal Plast score.
But with wickets falling, Metal Plast were precariously positioned at 129 for six before Saheb Malhotra stepped in.
He hammered six sixes and two boundaries to achieve his 50 in just 12 deliveries before he fell two balls later without adding any to his score.
But his knock ensured Metal Plast achieved a brilliant 176 for eight in 20 overs.
For Allied Shipping, Yousuf Hamidi, Hozefa Patel and Murtaza Mogal all bagged two wickets each.
Chasing a tough target, Allied Shipping fell off the radar from the start losing four wickets for 29 runs.
Only two batsmen Murtaza Mogal (23, 28b, 2×4) and Hozefa Vakhariya (34, 33b, 1×4, 1×6), who managed to reach the double figures, fought valiantly but their efforts could not yield the desired result as Allied Shipping were shot out for a paltry 92 in 17.2 overs.
Ghulam Rabani was the wrecker in chief scalping three wickets while Madhu Shanka and Adnan Ul Mulk pocketed two each.
In the other match, NMC, batting by choice, did not have the best of the starts. But Shahbaz Ahmed’s innings put NMC gave the momentum. He smashed a 34-ball 44 consisting of two boundaries and as many sixes before he was run out. Ali Abid (36, 23b, 1×4, 3×6) and Mazhar Bashir (23, 14b, 2×6) further swelled the total before Sandeep Shetty chipped in with an unbeaten 18 off only five deliveries to ensure NMC had a challenging 176 for seven in 20 overs.
For Skybridge Freight Solutions, Habib Ullah and Saqib Manshad claimed two wickets each.
Chasing, Skybridge Freight Solutions suffered blows after Muhammad Asif bowled an amazing spell to claim four wickets.
After opener Fawad Jalil managed 23 only Kashif Ahmed came good with a gritty 26 in the middle order. Skybridge Freight Solutions could have ended up with a much disappointing score but thanks to a fine innings of 45 from 29 balls from Mohammad Umar meant they achieved 124 before being all out in 16.3 overs.
Mazhar Bashir was the other bowler to succeed with a two-wicket haul.
