Two half centuries and a four-wicket haul meant Multiplex secured a fine 23-run victory against UBL in the 9th Al Dhaid Gold Cup Tournament 2016/17 at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village. The tournament is organized by Sharjah Cricket Council.

Put in to bat first at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village, Multiplex Ali Zeeshan and Raees Haider got off to a rousing start as the openers put on a brilliant 87 runs for the first wicket.

Zeeshan scored 53 supported by five boundaries and a six while Haider hit 42 including a four and three sixes.

Akhlaq Butt powered a fine 59 peppered with two boundaries and as many sixes before Obaid chipped in with 19 not out as Multiplex achieved 203 for six in the allotted 40 overs.

Chasing UBL lost a wicket early, before Amjad Ali (45, 46b, 3×4, 2×6) and Babar Hussain (39, 36) put the team back in contention.

Saqlain Hayder chipped in with a 36-ball 20 and Usman Saeed hit 25 from 42 deliveries before Razaq handed UBL four crucial blows to ensure they were all out in 35 overs.

Razaq’s four-wicket haul came in seven overs conceding 40 runs.
