Deepak Nicholas was at his brutal best as he fired a quickfire 92 to guide Roaring Lions past Sialkot XI in the Sharjah Summer Cup 2017 organized by Sharjah Cricket Club.

Chasing a challenging 159 to win at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Roaring Lions began on an aggressive note as the openers Rajeeb Naug and Deepak Nicholas raced to a quick 77 from just 7.1 overs.

In that partnership Rajeeb Naug contributed just 20 before he departed. His innings came off 21 deliveries with the help of three boundaries.

Deepak Nicholas carried on his aggressive form as he dealt mostly in boundaries and sixes. He was unlucky to miss out on his century as he got out on 92 coming off just 35 deliveries studded with eight boundaries and as many sixes.

Shayatan Banerjee remained unbeaten on 33 from only 21 balls supported by three fours and two sixes as Roaring Lions achieved the target in just 14.2 overs.

Earlier batting first, Sialkot XI had a shaky start with openers falling cheaply. Yaser Arfat and Faraz Ahmed scored an identical 19 to put the team back on track. Ali Gul Agha fired a 40-ball 77 studded with four boundaries and five sixes while Deepak Sani hit 14 not out as Sialkot XI achieved 158 for seven in 20 overs.

For Roaring Lions, Sameer Nigham, Rajeeb Naug and Shayatan Banerjee all claimed two wickets each.
