Mohammad Boota played a stellar knock as he guided United Bank Limited to a comfortable five-wicket victory over Sharjah Cricket Club in the Group C of the One Stop Tourism 43rd Bukhatir Premier League at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium organized by the Sharjah Cricket Council.
Opting to bat first at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Club made a humble start with opener Laxman Sreekumar scoring 21 off 34 balls.
Ghulam Fareed kept the other end firm and also shared a century stand with Adnan Mufti for the third wicket as Sharjah Cricket Club looked in a fine position half way through the innings.
Mufti departed scoring a steady 42 from 50 balls consisting of four boundaries.
Ghulam Fareed too departed a while later scoring 80 from 111 balls studded with eight boundaries.
Kashif Daud secured a quick 20-ball 28 but none of the other batsmen came good with the bat as Sharjah Cricket Club were all out for 230 in 44.2 overs.
Zaheer Maqsood was the wrecker in chief for UBL as he claimed four wickets in his seven overs while Mohammad Naveed Saleem pocketed three.
Chasing a tricky target, UBL made a positive start with Syed Maqsood and Zawar Fareed sharing 47 runs for the opening wicket. Maqsood perished scoring 31 from 20 balls consisting of six boundaries and a six.
Fareeq also followed suit but not before hitting a crucial 41 from 52 balls including four boundaries and a six.
Babar Hussain chipped in with 24 but it was Mohammad Boota’s knock that took UBL past the target.
Boota controlled the proceedings to perfection scoring an unbeaten 71-ball
93 supported by four boundaries and seven sixes while Saqlain Haider gave him company with a 50-ball 31 as UBL overhauled the target with eight balls to spare.
