Mohammed Yasir fired a brilliant half century as TNS defeated Taha CC by 16 runs in the newly-launched Al Dhaid Invitation T20 Tournament organized by the Sharjah Cricket Council.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Wasim Anwar and Mohsin Matto made a positive began sharing an impressive 65 runs for the first wicket. While Anwar smashed 34 from 22 balls including five boundaries, Matto fired a 24-ball 36 containing six fours and a six.
M Farooq carried on the good work as he hit a 14-ball 24 supported by four hits to the fence.
With a solid show from the top order Mohammed Yasir and M Musa were hardly under any pressure as they played their shots freely. The pair added an unbroken 102 runs for the fourth wicket to ensure TNS achieved a superb 208 for three in the allotted 20 overs.
Yasir was at his aggressive best as he blasted a 39-ball 74 not out peppered with six boundaries and four sixes while Musa chipped in with an unbeaten 27 from 22 balls.
For Taha CC, Asif Akhtar took two wickets.
In reply, Taha CC lost two wickets in quick succession but Ankit Gadia put up a strong resistance as he scored 60 from 43 balls but with not much support from the remaining batsmen Taha could manage only 182 for nine in 20 overs.
Shoaib Afridi (24) and Mohammed Yasir (23) made small contributions.
For the winners, Altaf claimed two wickets.
